Mid-weight Creative team wanted. Want to do good work and do good?

A finalist in last year’s Mumbrella Ad of the year, we are Australia’s leading progressive campaign agency and we’re looking to hire in our Sydney office. Working under the direction of our ECD Dee Madigan you will get to work on a great mix of brand, not-for-profits and political campaigns to keep you excited, and lots of TV as well as digital. We’re looking for a team with experience in through the line and online. And the Art Director needs to have excellent design skills and be able to take work through to finished art.  Salary commensurate with experience.

Are you a solid mid-weight team? Can you come up with good ideas and have you previously done Award school? Does the Art Director you have a background in design and can take an idea from concept to completion? Do you want to do good work that actually makes a difference?

The Mid Weight Team is responsible for creating visual concepts in response to clients’ briefs and to create campaigns. This work involves all media platforms, including:

  • Television and video
  • Digital communications, websites, mobile apps and emails
  • Marketing materials
  • Press and print advertising
  • Logos and branding

In addition the Art Director role requires Creative Suite/Mac skills to develop ideas through to finished art, with the view to hiring a designer once we scale up the workload.

The team needs to be enthusiastic, self directed and able to work autonomously when required.

The job demands the confidence to develop creatively assertive ideas and the passion to sell ideas to peers and clients. Pro-active in approach, and with a genuine understanding of the visual medium, the role is very ‘hands-on’ and busy.

Typical activities of this team include:

  • Generating original ideas that are both exciting and creatively attractive
  • Delivering work of the highest quality
  • Working with the creative director and account managers to establish appropriate creative directions
  • Staying abreast of new media formats and learning how to incorporate them into campaigns
  • Developing pitch visuals and presentations to the highest standard
  • Design of finished art for approved work and delivery to advertisers

The Mid Weight writer’s capabilities include:

  • The ability to come up with snappy headlines
  • Must be able to write long copy
  • A decent understanding of politics is not required but would certainly help
  • Must understand digital, SEO/SEM and social media and the writing rules and styles for it.

The Mid Weight Art Director needs a wide range of design and creative capabilities. These include:

  • Must have completed AWARD School
  • An understanding of creative design and layout
  • Strong skills with design software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • The ability to build creative and unique ideas
  • The confidence to communicate your ideas and sell them to peers and clients
  • The flexibility to adapt your ideas to suit client expectations
  • The willingness to work to tight deadlines in high pressured environments without compromising on work quality
  • An awareness of digital media and evolving online platforms
  • An innovative approach to the ways in which advertising is executed
  • A track record of inventive and compelling design work

In time, it is reasonable to expect promotion and the chance to be senior figures with designers and junior teams to direct and manage in the agency.
